Browser extension permissions

The browser extension needs specific permisissions to be able to inject itself as a sidebar on pages that you visit. It also needs storage permissions to be able to persist its settings or preserve information between page reloads etc.

The extension uses the URL of the page you're currently on to communicate with our servers and check if there's any content linked to that particular URL. We don't store any of the webpage's in-page data, nor we scrape user information or any sensitive details from the page.

User data

Our servers host the data you provided to us: username, email, and other content that you posted using your account. This is necessary for our app to function properly.

Retrieving personal data

You can request to get data dumps with your personal information that we can send you over email. We will notify you once this process is finished and send the data. We currently don't have automated scripts for doing this, so we will have to do it manually. It's quite reasonable to expect for this process to be finished within a few days, but it's possible for things to take longer (thanks for understanding!).

Removing personal data

You can request for us to remove any and all of your data. This will include all of your profile information and any and all content that you have created (linked materials, votes, uploaded files,...). We will notify you once this process is finished. We currently don't have automated scripts for doing this, so we will have to do it manually. It's quite reasonable to expect for this process to be finished within a few days, but it's possible for things to take longer (thanks for understanding!).

Product analytics and usage statistics

We use Mixpanel as a product analytics tools of our choice. Mixpanel lets us record some common user actions, and later analyze that data to be able to better understand how people use our product and what to focus on.

Using product analytics tools is a very common practice. It lets other companies, and us, drive our decision-making based on statistical behavior of our users. We use Mixpanel to help us gather more insights and prioritize what things to work on.

Mixpanel itself doesn't use or have access to the data that we record for our product. We also don't share or sell that data, nor fully nor partially, with any other parties.
